“OUR GOD IS HOLY!”
Our guest speaker will be Karen Willis from First ARP Church in Gastonia, NC. Karen enjoys teaching God’s word and creating ways to help “keep our eyes on Christ” while we live in this world. She leads a “Stretch and Praise” class that combines physical stretching with God’s word to renew both our bodies and our minds.
Last fall, when she taught “Knowing God By His Names” for a women’s Bible study group at her home church, the Lord began to impress upon her heart that idolatry begins in the mind when we have thoughts about God that are unworthy of Him. Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Hallowed be they name” yet even in the Church, among God’s people, His Holy name is not held sacred. “Our God is Holy” will give us a glimpse behind the veil, of God’s transcendent majesty and glory. Then, like Moses, Isaiah and John, who saw God in the splendor of His Holiness, we too can begin to purify our thoughts of God so that we have an undimmed and undiminished, true knowledge of him.
(Our annual meeting will begin at 1:00 in the Patrick room of the Lodge. Seminars will be held in the morning at 10:00 and 11:00. Lunch will be from 11:45 – 1:00. If you register before the seminars, you are good for the day!!)
DESCRIPTION OF SEMINARS:
ARP 101: A glossary of common terms in ARP WM will be provided and explanations of many ARP traditions and events will be discussed. (Susan Tanner and Vicki Marsh)
BAGS FOR THE HOMELESS: Instructions for making T-shirt bags and what might be included in them will be given. Bring a man’s L or XL t-shirt, scissors, and a large safety pin or diaper pin. No sewing required! (If you forget the shirt, some extra ones will be available.) (Karen Litzenberger and friends from Oconee Church)
BIBLE STUDY FOR 2018 (ABRAHAM): An overview and important highlights of next years’ study will be presented. (Rebecca Maney)
STRETCH AND PRAISE: A relaxing time of stretching with Bible verses and Christian music added to enhance the experience. (Karen Willis)
TREASURER’S WORKSHOP: Recommended for WM treasurers or anyone who wants to learn more about WM finances. (Judy Kovacs)
